Exclusion, Positives and Tony

We received an email from a resident over the weekend that pointed out that City Island Residents Group is maybe not held in the highest regards by some, as we are not inclusive of all residents and that we tend to concentrate on the negative aspects of living here, and never the positives, which we then subsequently publicize via the blog. It was finally pointed out that one such positive is Tony, our current concierge, who, it was also suggested, may shortly be replaced.

Exclusion
We can assure you that it is not our intention to exclude, and if you feel excluded, please don’t grumble about it, simply email us and get involved. We had assumed that a lot of people were not interested in getting involved, but if you are, that’s great, get in touch!

Most of those that get involved are normally just happy to send their issues, views and support through via email and have us deal with it that way, but if you (or anyone else) wants to contribute their time to help printing, delivering fliers, attending meetings, analyzing accounts, investigating legal positions, or writing, like a handful of others already do, just get in touch via this email address and get involved, we’d be happy of the help.

Positives
As regards including more positives on the blog, we think this is an excellent idea, and we take onboard entirely the comments made that the blog, up to now, has been mainly negative, but as I am sure you all understand, publicizing the things that are not so good at City Island, is what gets them improved.

However, we think it is absolutely correct that we should also strive to stress the positives; we certainly enjoy all the benefits of living here, and if things were all bad, we would've all moved out long ago, so we agree that we should be making more of a point about this in future.

So, as a result, we are sending out this email asking residents for any positive aspects they would like to publicize via the blog, anonymously or otherwise, so that we can publish them and let people see that City Island is actually a good place to live, with people who care about living here - so please, get involved and email us any positive aspects of living here you think should be mentioned or any positive stories you have.

Tony
As regards Tony specifically, I, as all of us, deal with him on a regular basis, and along with everyone else, have nothing but praise for him, he constantly goes beyond the call of duty and is an absolute asset to City Island. Many people who have contacted us have heaped praise and thanks for Tony, and we have actually put it on the list of "positives" to report back to the management company when we speak to them.

However, we didn't know of the intention to replace Tony, and will speak with him about it tomorrow to see if this is the case, and if so, ask if he would be interested in the job full-time, and if he is, with your backing, we will try and pressure the management company to install him so that we can continue to enjoy all the benefits that Tony brings to us, and to City Island.

The first new positive post on the blog is likely to be about Tony, so if you would like to contribute your stories about how Tony has helped you, please email them in. Additionally, if you think Tony should be given the concierge position full time, let us know so that we can present the number of people who support him to the management company to strengthen our case to for him to remain.

Finally, if anyone else has any suggestions about how we could do things better, please tell us about them and we will do our utmost to take your criticisms onboard, and make changes that benefit us all.
